    Simple question. Simple answer. Yes you can.

    Remember they hold heat for awhile and can take some time to warm up. Let it sit for awhile after you adjust it to see exactly what temp it is at. They are much slower than bulbs.

    Yes - depending on the wattage, fluctuations of room temperatures and the size of your enclosure you may find it easier to use a thermostat to keep consistent temperatures when using a CHE.

    Also remember that with a dimmer the temps will change with the changes in ambient temps. You need to check your temps frequently to make sure you are still in the range you want it.
