Yawning?

My male juvenile het. pied has been yawning a lot. I checked his mouth for rot or RI. The mouth was nice and pink, no redness or mucus. I keep 2 hides, a log, and 2 plastic plants with cypress mulch in a 20 gal. long glass tank. The temps and humidity are always constant and precise on the cool and hot side. I also noticed that he was clicking when he exhaled. It was gone a couple hours later. He yawns about 3 times every time I handle him. He's a little more than a foot long and an inch at the thickest part of his body. Weight is unknown.

I had to help him shed last shed since he was on paper towels because of a mite problem (taken care of). I tried to feed him last Friday and had a bit of trouble so I waited until Sunday and he took it down nicely. He missed strikes tho but partially my fault. He also had some trouble finding the end of the mouse. Eats frozen hopper mice.

I don't really know what's wrong with him... hope he gets better though.
Keep watching him, make sure he's eating and staying hydrated.

Have not seen him drink, I put his face ,not forcing but offering water but he refuses. My dad said that he was active last night but didn't say anything about drinking. I am sure he drinks tho.

Yawning does not always equal sick. Ball Pythons can really do it for a number of reasons, the first being to "realign" their jaw after a meal. They can also do it if they feel they didn't close their mouth correctly or even if they're just tired. A yawn is a yawn after all! What you need to look out for is continuous gaping where they leave it open and breathe like that for 5+ seconds.

Balls rarely drink. It's normal to be active at night. Dehydrated as in lethargic, and wrinkly skin.

I was thinking the same thing. I just wasn't sure so I needed someone else's opinion. Thanks for the help.

I just go to Notifications, and along the right side of the index page there's "edit your signature". That's the only way I know how to lol.

BPs move at night and sleep in the day. They will drink at night. Obvious you have not had your snake long enough, be patient, things will work them selfs out.

Since your snake is young, try to only handle the snake maybe twice a week at the maximum! Handle her/him when they are active, usually at night! (Same goes with feeding!) Snakes sleep during the day! If I woke you up, I can bet you would yawn!

If you want Her/him to be active sooner... Cover the tank with a towel, early then periodically peek in.

I understand you worried, but you worry is going to stress the snake to much!
