Any tips (feeding bps)

Not any tips on switching, but tips on how you don't flinch when feeding ball pythons :rofl: I flinch everytime I feed my snakes and sometimes cause the snake to miss the food so lately I just drop the rats in the tubs, but some don't eat because of this so I need some tips to not flinch. Kept bps for like 2 years and I still have flinching problems. lol

Are you feeding frozen/thawed food? If so, perhaps just use the tail to scoot it around a bit, so when you flinch you won't move it much.
I think you'll get used to it eventually.

I still flinch, but I also hand dangle food items to them. I think I probably always will. Leaving the food in their hide over the hot spot and see if they take it. That's how my first one took his first ft.

Are you feeding by hand, or with tongs? There's no way I would put my hand close enough to a hungry BP to dangle a rat by its tail. Some of my big girls literally hit so hard that fur flies! Tongs put me an extra foot from the action (16"), so the only time I jump is after they nail it.

I have always and probably will always hold the tail by hand. My big spider let me pull his shed out from under his chin and then. Ailed the rat a foot outside his tub this past time. I actually laughed and smiled. ;

Yeah, IMO the tail is the nastiest part of the rat. I have zero desire to touch it. :mouse2:

Try using, tongs with wearing gloves maybe. I currently feed live so I don't have that problem. I wish I could get mine to switch to F/T

Funny and embarrasing thing is I use tongs. Still flinch like a b----

I think it just takes some getting used to. I don't flinch at all whatsoever anymore.
