possibilty #2 female firefly 600g 600.00 male bee late 2012 275 all the potential combinations looked pretty good to me. looking for opinions which do you think is the better looking pair and best value. I know it's subjective but fun to discuss. Just got my first ball a month ago and I think i already have the bug

If it was me, I would do the second option. Bigger female. It also depends on your breeding plans.

I say hold out and look for higher quality animals. Both fireflies and both bees do not look like examples of the morphs that I would breed. Just keep an eye out for top notch animals!

Remember, baby season is just around the corner! :)

So what do you look for in those morphs? What are the key characteristics that mark quality?

Fireflys:
You want to look for a lot if blushing in the black parts. Also the brightest and cleanest yellow. Pastels tend to leave little brown speckles in the yellow. You want the fewest of these. Ideally none. Also some people prefer a reduced pattern. Some like a busy pattern. That part is really up to you. This one I will post is what I consider a nice quality one. (Not my snake. Just a google search)

Bumblebees:
What I look for in a bumblebee is exactly what Doolittle has lol. (She has the hawtest one ever) Alot of the same principals for fireflys can be crossed over when looking for bees. Bright, clean yellow is the most important. Less brown scales the better. Second is no dots in the pattern. Or very few. Basically you want nice dark blacks with nice bright and clean yellows. Much like this one. (This one is my snake, pic from the breeder)

Now keep in mind that both of these morphs have pastel in them and will brown out as they get older. Basically the yellow gets darker and starts to turn brown. The lighter yellow both these animals are at birth, the more yellow will stick around. I'm not talking mustard yellow. I'm talking a very VERY light yellow. Like almost white would be best. You will thank yourself later.

Here is my bee at 500g. In the first pic she was about 150g. You can see what I'm saying about browning out. Hope this helps ya.

You want a clean pattern, as few spots as possible. Light yellow, they will brown out. How much is going to vary from animal to animal. And me personally, I like the high white sides.

Thank you, that was very helpful. There's so much to learn. I definitely see what you're talking about with the fire. I thought the 1st pairing looked pretty good, but I can see how when they age some of the negative characteristics might come out. What would you say quality versions of these morphs usually go for? Would I be better off looking for really high quality pastels, spiders and fires and then building up from there. I just thought the variety of combinations you can get from these two morphs was really cool.
