Refuses to go to her warm side
I have a female ball whos about 2 years old now and about 36 inches. I just recently put her in a 40 gallon from a 30 gallon but as soon as I did she stopped going to her warm side. I have tried everything to get her to go to her warm side and stay there such as decreasing the temp, switching her hides around, and covering the opening to the hide to provide her with more coverage. Nothing has worked so far, everytime I check on her she is under her cool side hide. Ive even tried putting her in her warm hide but she immediatly goes straight back to her cool side. Shes stopped eating because of this so I need to figure this out ive got two identical abs hides coming in two days but if that doesnt work what could it be? Her cool side is 78-80 ambient temp is 78 and her warm side is 88-90.

    Slushy
Mine's the same, as long as she's eating, shedding and pooping then it doesn't really matter though. If she really really gets too cold she will go and warm herself up. Some only seem to go to the warm side after food. I would check your humidity though especially if you're using a bulb - you'll probably find the cold side is holding the humidity much better than the warm side and she's choosing the cold side because it's not as dry. Most BP's spend their lives buried in the soil anyway rather than basking in the sun so I would expect them to favour the cool side naturally?

How long has she been in the new tank? How many meals had she refused?

She may just need to settle in. You may want to add cover to help her feel more secure.

What are you using to heat the cage?

If you are using an under tank heating ad is it being regulated by a thermostat?

What are you using to measure temperatures?

Ive got one uth under her warm side connected to a thermostat and I heat the ambient air and her cool side with a 100w ceramic infrared. My infrared and my zoomed humidifier are hooked up to a temp/humidity regualtor with the probe towards the cool side. I double check all the ground temps with a temp gun. I think it could be a humidy problem. I have the humidity tube flowing right on top of her cool hide but some of the vapor condenses, drips, then soaks into the coconut husk under her hide so it is very humid in there.

^Sorry, shes refused 3 meals so far. Ive owned her for a year and a half and shes never refused a meal, its a bummer having a snake who wont eat. Ill try covering all four corners and leave her until staurday when I try to feed her again.
