Anyone find rat babies loud? Got my first batch yesterday, my rats are kept in my living room and they have not stopped squeeking. Anyone else find this?

Have you seen Mom allowing them to nurse?

Yes, she has been with them since birth and they have been nursing. Sometimes they make no noise and other times they don't shut up.

Newborns seem to make squeaky little noises. As they get a bit older, I bet you don't hear them as much.

It's totally normal. They're just nursing.
I find that it's more of a pink/fuzzy thing. Like Doolittle said, it goes away with age.

Re: Babies
When I go into my rat building all the moms get out of their nest and I hear hundreds of babies going off. The really weird sound is at night when thousands of rats are eating, sounds like it's raining.

Glad to hear it just a pinky thing lol... I don't think I would be able to handle it constantly to tell you the truth. and it does seem to be when she leaves the nest, or walking all over them :p
