My cat Wilbur in the woods
I took my cat Wilbur into the Maine woods yesterday for a bit of exercise and wanted to share a few of the photos I took. He's been cooped up this winter, so it was nice to let him blow off some energy. He slept well last night! :D

Let's start with probably my favorite photo I've ever taken.

My two favorites. Wilbur's expression is classic Wilby and my girlfriend, well, she's just awesome. :)

He was a little unsure at first.

    Squirrel?!?!

    What is in my kingdom?

Who dropped this tree in my path?

Just a nice photo of Wilby.

I claim this fallen tree. MINE!

    LEAVES!

    Thanks for looking! :D

I love him! I need to plan a trip to Maine to cuddle all your animals. Especially Enzo, wilby, and tequila!

It may be too cold for you though. :P

I'm jealous of Ginny though because she's going to be in the Tampa area visiting family this coming week. She said that if I had a TJL Exotics t-shirt, she'd wear it and let people try to find her as part of a scavenger hunt during the day of the expo lolol.

    They're all definitely awesome. :D

Is she goin to be at the expo!? I'm going! I would love to say hi :)

Do you realize how much I loathe Florida? Anything above 70 is too hot for me.

I don't think she will be. Who knows though, she may bring me back a t-shirt lol.

I would love it to be above 70 a good amount of time. It'd help to thaw me out!

Cool. I used to live out in the country in the middle of a large orange orchard, which was surrounded by miles of other orchards. We took daily walks along the dirt roads traversing the orchards and our cat always came along. She was an outdoor cat, and wasn't really that social but she insisted on walking with us. If we left without her, she would track us down mewing all the way til she caught up. Our usual retinue was two adults, three kids, a dog or two, and that cat. The dog(s) would range out in front, and chase rabbits and squirrels, but the cat always stayed right with us. Unfortunately we later lost her to a pack of coyotes that came through one night, (we often heard them at night, but they had never come so close before). She could handle the family dogs, (who all gave the cat a wide berth), but a pack of determined predators apparently was more then she could fight off. We heard the commotion, (dogs barked, but were penned up), but she must have tried to run away, and we figured they caught up to her out in the orchard. Living in the country had it's charms, but it had it's dangers too. We never found her body, but we still remember those walks fondly.

I'm sorry for your loss. That also happened to my family cat 10 years ago, so I know all too well about the charms and dangers of living in the country.

My boy is definitely an indoor cat. He was born in the barn, but he was taken inside to be raised. His survival instincts aren't too sharp and last year before winter he was afraid of walking on the grass. :D He's gotten much better about going outside, but his trips are supervised since he's kind of a wimp. :)

He's come a long way then. A lot of inside-cats are afraid to even step foot outside.

Though we lost our cat to the coyotes, I did enjoy hearing them on summer evenings as they moved through their territory and called to each other, (I kinda miss the place actually). The area was bordered by foothills, so we always had various wildlife wandering through the orchards including bobcats, fox, racoons, quail and the occasional rattler, (and who knows what else?). Coyotes were the most prevalent though, and most likely to come around the house. I live in an upstairs apartment now, so reptiles are more suitable nowadays. I do miss having a cat around though, and I have several friends with kitties that I enjoy visiting as much, (or more), than their owners.
