    I have a few housing related questions;

    1. What are the dimentions of a 40 gallon aquarium>

    2. Whitch is better suited to a ball python; a vision cage or precision cage?

    I say either are good i keep both of mine in Sterilite containers. They are cheap and easy to clean and very light. I have a how-to here http://www.ball-pythons.net/PNphpBB2...ic-t-2825.html.

    And this is my setup for both my snakes.

    Nice setup! And I guess rubermades would be cheaper now, and plus I can't seem to find a preccsion cage within my price range.

    Precision and Visions are nice...but VERY pricey. Depending on what you want to do with it, you would be fine with either a glass "critter cage" (cheaper than an actual aquarium but looks the same) or a rubbermaid/sterilite setup. I don't know the dimensions of a 40gal long, but I do know it would be big enough for a fully grown bp. You would want to start with something smaller for a baby.

    The custom cages like that are quite expensive, and it's easy to set up a Rubbermaid or Sterilite enclosure as nice housing for a ball python. All but one of mine are in Sterilites, and 3 of my geckos are as well, with the others in a homemade mesh cage.

    Yea those cages are really expensive and these Sterilite or Rubbermaid cages hold humidity just as good. What supplies do you have already. I use a human heating pad on both of them they cost like $10 at Walmart. They work great I incorperated the light in the big one because the pad didn't seem to do the job on its own but in the little one the pad does a great job. I use aspen bedding in both of them but you can use newspaper or napkins or reptibark what ever suits your need. I like the aspen bedding because they like to burrow so they can move around the bedding with little effort. The large tank shows a great example of they way an enclosure could be set up. Always provide 2 hides and always keep fresh water avaliable this means changing it every day you will also need a hygrometer and thermomoeter the one i have in my enclosures cost like $15 but are well worth it. If you look closely you can see Jojo hiding under the log. If you have any more questions please ask.

    Judy is right about the smaller enclosure for a baby Ball. I have my youngest ball python Coconut in the small sterilite. If you do use sterilite remember to drill some holes to allow air exchange.
