Charlie bit me!!!
Alright, so I've got a little 245g female ball python who, just recently, decided she likes to try to bite.. She trys and trys but hasn't made contact yet. I know you can't punish them like a dog. Lol. But is there another way to make her stop? I thought about letting her bite me over and over again till she realizes it won't get her anywhere. Either that or letting her try until it wears her out so much she gives up. Any suggestions?

Re: Charlie bit me!!!
Just go in and pick her up straight away. Don't let her hiss or strikes create drama. She's young yet and if she's healthy, she should calm down. Has anything changed in her routine?

Re: Charlie bit me!!!
This just started out of the blue with no changes to husbandry or an imminent shed?
Well, I had a young male start hissing and striking for 3 days, on the 3rd day he left a huge smelly present for me and has been fine since. I'm writing it off as a case of serpent constipation making the little guy grumpy.
Just keep working with her and, no doubt she will settle back down for you, if she appears stressed give her a bit of a break and let her settle back down.

Don't try to let her bite you. Correct, BPs don't train like a cat or dog. Just make sure your husbandry is spot on and go in confidently. Being hungry, shed time, or may be she's just a bit grumpy. My spider female was the same way. Just go In confidently and even if she does strike, continue to pick her up. Eventually she'll remember you're not a threat.
My spider female now is the greatest, most docile BP I have ever owned or fostered. I do work with her daily. Since I don't have a large collection, I make sure I work with them all on a daily basis except feeding and shed time.

Re: Charlie bit me!!!
No nothings changed. I quit trying to feed her on a daily basis since she wouldn't eat. I'm gonna wait a week and try again on that one. But other than that, nothings changed at all. As far as letting her bite me I had planned on using gloves so she wouldn't get me. Lol.
