Best first boa?

I am looking to get my first boa soon. Im not really educated in all the different morphs and localities yet but i have been researching their housing and care. I want a boa that does not require large pray items and will do fine on large rats or smaller. I also want a VERY docile boa that can be handled by me and children. Even some of my balls are nippy at times but i heard some boas are puppy dog tame. And i want a male, so size does matter and does not max out over 5-6 feet. I am stuck between a Hog Island and a Dumerils boa. Which is better for me and any other boa species that stay small and docile? Also i dont know any reptuble breeders that breed boas.

I LOVE my dumerils boa. She's just awesome, you'll never hear anything bad about a dumerils. I got a female because I do like larger snakes, but not too large, she'll get about 7 feet. She is a great eater and she is all of my friends (including mine) favorite snake.

get a male dums hand down. I got a dums as my first boa back in nov and she is super chill. i trust her with anyone. i just picked up a guyana last month and he was fiesty at first but is calming down and is super active unlike my dums. altho many people including myself will say a dums is hard to get to eat at first but will take anything and everything once they start eating. it took me a month to get mine to eat so if you do get one do not let that stress you out.

True mine was a picky eater when I first got her, but after she became comfortable in her tub she is a complete garbage disposal now lol

I vote Hog Island BCI: males should fit right in your size range, shouldn't need more than large rats (mediums probably would be fine depending on the adult size of the individual) and a 4' cage should be fine for its entire life. I recommend Chad Duggin for Hogs.

I was torn between a hogg island and a dumerils, but when I saw a dumerils in person I just had to have her.

I believe mine is around 36 inches (roughly) and around 500g (this too is an approximation, because she won't sit still on the scale long enough for me to give an exact number :rolleyes:)
