Black Mexican Kingsnake Scale Question

So last month I got a Baby Black Mexican Kingsnake, he is a few months old and less than a foot long, his girth is about as big as an average persons pinky finger. Since I've him, he has eaten two pinkies in a designated eating container, has pooped, and has had a full healthy shed. I have him an about a ten gallon long tank, on the left side is one hide with a heating pad, on the right side his water dish, and the entire tank has aspen substrate by Zoomed. At first he was a bit jumpy and try to look all big and bad by doing his little tail rattle, but now he is perfectly fine when I pick him up. Still being a baby he is more active, but comfortable being held.

I had a question however about his scales. Looking closely it looks like some of his scales have little dents in them, I have a Ball Python as well and I have had him have a scale folded in once in awhile but by the next shed it is fine. With the baby King, I was just wondering is this a big concern? I checked carefully to make sure he HAD all of his scales, which he does, its just that the dented scales are something I've never seen before. I THINK maybe he is still very young, his scales haven't grown in with his size and that as he grows they will become tighter and smooth. If that's me being naive and very wrong, can someone give some input on what it could possibly be? One other thing is that his right eye has a few white patches, it looks like a retained eye cap but on his shed I can clearly see both eyes, maybe its another thing that goes away with shedding but like I said, I'm a new parent for this guy, and just want him to be happy and healthy. I have a 12 year old black mexican kingsnake that also has some dented scales. She has been to the vet in the past 6 months and has received a clean bill of health. I would have thought if it was a problem he would have told me about them? I wouldnt worry too much about it. It may have something to do with humidy?

That's great!! Yeah with this guy being only a few months old I'm of course the over protective parent lol. In my care I noticed they were like that after his first shed with me, so I was thinking too maybe during his shedding period that even though the old skin came off complete, maybe the humidity wasn't high enough and it came off a little rough? It's just that I didn't want to run the risk of a respitory infection. Ill raise the humidity a bit during his next shed period and hopefully that will help him. But in the mean time a big plus is that I have seen him drink water, so he couldn't be dehydrated. Thanks for the reply, hopefully the next shed fixes it, either way he's still a cute little guy.

Yeah I totally love my little girl. She by far is my best eater and has one heck of a personality. I have nicknamed her Nom Nom. Lol. My girl loves to swim as well, she is always hanging out in her water dish. At first I was concerned that she was doing that because of mites but that wasnt the case. I guess she just enjoys the water. Good luck with yours, hope it grows to be big and healthy. Right now my girl is about 4 foot long and 575 grams.

Awwww that's so great!! And thank you!! Yeah I love my Ball, when I got him however he was already matured, so with my MBK I really want that satisfaction of seeing him grow and raising him from a few months old.
