Is my BP blind?

Maybe I'm just being a worried first parent, but I've noticed that Pandora seems to miss and strikes at her food a couple times before actually getting it. She seems to "look" at me whenever she comes out off her hide, so I'm not sure.

Is there something covering her eyes? Like are they blue or have some retained skin on them? Was her eye injured? Is she a "spider" morph? Those things can cause some issues with striking. All but the spider morph involve the eyes being unable to see properly. Spiders do strange things. I have a female spider who will often times miss on a first strike but that's just because spiders are strange and do strange things.

It's possible she's just really, really excited to see food.

No her eyes look normal and shes a pied. She did have some stuck shed on her eyes during her last shed but it came off. I'm worried maybe she's blind in one eye cause she will follow my finger. Maybe I'm just being overly concerned and jumping to ridiculous conclusions lol.

A lot of times when they are really young they will just miss if you hold it out to far. Mine missed a couple of times when he was a little guy. Since he got bigger he hits it like a little freight train. Never misses. :). I can't tell you not to worry because I haven't seen the snake for myself and even if I did I'm not a vet but it sounds like your just a worried parent. :)

Babies can get over excited and end up missing when they strike. They learn as they grow.

i think it will just get better with age. it probarbly just takes more practise.

and since the heat pits of BPs are highly effective, there even are blind BPs, born without eyes, that hit the prey item perfectly based on directional infrared sensing alone. that the heat pits are pointed directly at the target, but the eyes look more to the sides and upwards, also indicates which one is more important for hunting and which one is more important to watch out for predators.

based on this, maybe it helps if the food item is warmed up to the right temperature?
