    Probe placement.
I have searched through the DIY racks and it seems that this is never covered. I am going to heat with belly heat and I want to mount the probe on the middle shelf of a six bin melamine rack. My plan was mot simply cut a groove in the shelf so the 12" heat tape stays flush to the shelf. It is a Herpstat probe so it is pretty large. Any problems with this method? I just don't want the tube rubbing on it or potentially moving the probe.

I tape mines touching tub and heat tape. You just gotta tape that sucker down with duct tape. Don't tape the metal part of the probe.

My probe is about a 1/4". That seems like a very bump and will make it difficult to slide the tub I think. I don't see any pics in my searches of how people place their probes in a belly heat situation. I don't want to place it in a spare tub because that won't be available for very long. I want to use every tub. I don't foresee a problem with the probe being in a groove in the shelf but sometimes more experienced people have run into situations I haven't thought of.
