Don't worry, they know to hold their breath. I dunno why he did it though.

It was so strange... its a metal bowl so maybe he saw his reflection??? I dont know. But i was just in awe and confused when i saw it happen. He kinda swam around with just his neck and head in the water and then moved on and kept hunting. I havent had him sexed but i am almost positive he is looking for a mate because he is NEVER EVER EVER this active, and wont eat.

Boas do this all the time. Some will even "blow bubbles" while submerged.

2 of my Ball girls play and snorkel in their water bowls. They poke their heads in and out, periscope, and slither in circles under water. I think some snakes just like water more than others.

My brb does this every time he enters his pool. I think its pretty cool. He once ate a whole rat completely under water. Now that was kinda weird.

I've seen my kingsnake do this too. Not sure why but I freaked out too. Guess he just felt like a dip.

My snakes will do this on occasion, the corns and ratsnakes more often than the pythons :3 Don't worry, they seem to know what they are doing and a healthy snake isn't going to deliberately drown itself! I've gotten to thinking it's cute rather than freaking out when they do it, ha ha!
