    Eggs!
I bought this girl from Outback Reptiles as a gravid import female, possibly a burgundy morph. She's definitely an unusual looking animal in coloration but it remains to be seen if she's an actual morph or not. Regardless, she laid a clutch of 9 viable eggs with 2 possibles. I don't know what the pairing was, as she was/is a wild caught but hoping one or more of the babies look like mom and that there's at least one male in the clutch to hold back and pair with mom next year if she's back up to size. Here's the pictures, to prove it happened, lol!

    Mom, Dorothy Mantooth:

And the clutch, currently being incubated at 87.5 to 88 degrees:

The egg in the lower left was a rollout from the start and the one I'm pretty sure is a slug. The other smaller one in the upper left corner of the photo was stuck to the other eggs which look to be viable. I'm planning on incubating all of them for a week or two and then candling the slugs along with all of the other ones. This is the first clutch I've incubated, so any words of wisdom or help would be greatly appreciated. I think I've read every care sheet Google could reveal along with several books, lol! but I'd gladly hear any input if I'm doing something wrong or should change something. Thanks for looking!

    yay!

I hope she proves out for you. :)

When are you going to offer mom food?

The two small ones are slugs so I would get rid of them before they rot. Also I would put a sheet of press and seal plastic wrap (the kind that's semi sticky on one side) over the egg box and then snap the lid on over that. The lids on those shoe boxes are notoriously loose and can allow a lot of evaporation. Air flow is not as important as a lot of people make it out to be, especially in the beginning. It's better to have a tight seal to maintain humidity.

Congratulations and good luck, that's an interesting looking female.

Thanks, me too! I cleaned her tub and replaced her bedding this morning. I thought I'd give her a week or so before I offer her food and try to get her eating. She looks terrible after she laid, poor thing.

Thanks for the input, especially about the slugs. I wasn't sure on them, hence why I kept them in there. I've heard both schools of thought on the Press N' Seal, either for using it or for not. I'll pick some up tonight to play it safe and hopefully keep them from drying out too much. Hoping she proves out as being genetic but time will tell on that one. I have some plans for her so hopefully she starts eating and picking up weight sooner rather than later. Thanks again and take care!

I wouldn't bother raising a male to breed to her...I bred quite a few Burgundys that look just like her in the early 2000s and none were genetic...A lot of others have tried too...Don't know of any that proved.

Ralph Davis would be one who proved a burgundy.

Vin Russo would be another, tho he doesn't list them on his own website now a days.

It just seems to be a morph that people kicked to the sidelines is all.

That's half the fun of raising these guys, is to see if she and her clutch prove out as genetic. Strictly a hobby for me and just for fun so if she doesn't prove out, no great loss, just would be something fun to mess with in the next few years. Keeps me occupied and as my wife says, out of the bars if I have a hobby to occupy myself, lmao!
