herpstat question...

could not find the answer in search, though i would ask here and get a quicker responce than from spyder robotics.

I have the original herpstat, non grounded, the one that is square and has a green front. Im pretty sure i threw away the instructions, but i noticed that on the left of the herpstat there is 2 "headphone" jacks for the probe. I of course have the probe that came with the hepstat and thats what im using now, and never though of the second "headphone" jack that still there, because honestly, i thought i would never need to even know what its for since i thought i would never buy another BP.

Well of course thats has just changed and now im thinking i want a second BP. Can i buy a another probe of spyder robotics and connected it to the other jack on the herpstat, and will it keep the same temps on both enclosure of the 2 different probes connected to that one herpstat?

I'm not real clear on which one you have but if your going to run the same EXACT setup for a snake needing the same EXACT environment the one probe will regulate both heat sources fine. You accomplish this by plugging a power strip into the Herpstat and the heat sources into that. Make sure that the heat sources are under the max load your tstat can handle.

dont think i understand exactly, i do have the one that is listed first under the "Discontinued Product". When you say run a power strip into the herpstat do you mean as in another probe into the jack?

No.

Get a power strip(takes one plug and turns it in several). Plug both of the plugs of the heat sources into the strip and then plug the strip into the tstat. If both heat sources are the same the tstat will send the same amount of power to the strip and heat both sources the same while only using one probe.

This will only work if everything is the same. Using two different heat sources will give different temps.

Lost. The herpstat comes with 2 cords coming out it, one is a 3 point extension cord and the other Is the cord of the actual tstat/probe, which you connect to the 3 point extension cord which is connected to the wall.

I don't know how your tstat is but it should have three things.

1. Probe

2. Cord that plugs into the wall for power.

3. Either an outlet on the back of the unit or another cord that the uth plugs into. This is where the power strip can be plugged into to give you the ability to control more than one heat source with just one tstat.

Picture 1. There are 2 cables coming out of the herpstat, one is the extension cord and one the actually cord you connect to the wall to get your power from the tstat

Picture 2. The extension chord plug that comes from the t stat, which is plugged to the wall, and on your right the white plug that is plugged in is the other plug that powers the actual herpstat.

The 2nd jack is for
A humidity probe

It is for the old night drop cable.

Not something you will need for Royals.

The original Herpstat did not have a humidity function. and ND were done with a cable thing.

so i cant power 2 probes (for the exact temperature) of one herpstats? i have to buy another one?
