Do Balls eat chicks?
Just curious if anyone had ever heard of feeding balls little chicks? Someone told me not to mess with mice and just stock up on chicks during the spring when they are being sold. He freezes them and feeds til he runs out. I'm not planning on doing that, just wondering if anyone had heard of the practice. Seems a bit odd...

They can. But the question is are they willing?
I've tried feeding mine chicks and rabbits, but they always turn their noses up. They seem to be stuck on rodents.

Hahaha. :P Nice!
I've not fed mine chicks before.
But a local store suggested to try them if a snake goes off feed.

I've heard of people feeding chicks every once in a while to add a little variety, but I've never found a valid claim that it does anything to benefit the snake. I would think that it would be bad for the snake, because everyone I've ever encountered that fed birds to their snake says that it makes their poop runny and really stinky.
I would think buying rats or mice in bulk would be cheaper than chicks anyway. On RodentPro's site, for example, a bag of 100 pinkie rats that weigh 3-9 grams costs $0.50 per rat, whereas a bag of 10 small chicks weighing 2-6 grams costs $1.00 per chick. Mice are even cheaper; they don't even hit .50 each until they've over 13 grams.

I dont think its bad really, its like switching a food on your dog or whatever, if they arent used to it, stomach upset can occur. I am sure most of us have given our dog a different food or some random people food and had them get exploding butt. Thats what I would equate it to, could be wrong, but chicks (fluffy ones not feathered ones) dont seem to be to different than a rat or what have you, seems about equal in bone/organ/meat ratio, now if you are using an older chick with more feathers it might be less of the good stuff and more feather, or bone and less meat, which could cause constipation possibly??
This is just my opinion though, I could be wrong..
