I've had Allure a month now I think. I bought "small adult" mice for him since that's what Garrick had him on. I bought my second box and the mice are much skinnier and a bit smaller. I ended up feeing him two today because he was pacing the glass two days ago like he was hungry (I feed every five days and today was feeding day). They changed the way they package the mice so I don't know if that had anything to do with them now having smaller mice (like getting mice from a different company). Not going to waste mice so I'll let him finish these up then looks like I'm upping his size. Next time I'll pull a mouse at first to see it's the size it should be. Just irritating the sizes are that different. I found one in the packaging that was like half the size of the last box of mice were.

You are not the only one facing this problem. I buy from a private supplier that buys from someone else and lately the sizes have been all messed up. I have ended up with hopper mice the size of adults and weaned rats the size of larger smalls. Im not quite sure what is going on but they used to size them by weight but now I think its more of an "eye ball" them kind of measurement.

I had the same problem. I switched to a private supplier as well. its actually cheaper and the mice are actually the size he says they are.

I think it's time for me to start mail ordering too. Availability is always sketchy and the difference in size between the largest mice and smallest rats is dramatic. The size difference is less of a problem now though because the small (big) rats have spawned a growth spurt making them more size appropriate.

Petsmart's mice are tiny and overpriced. Their definition of a large mouse is only about 18g from my experience. If I drive a bit further, I can get ones over 30g for a buck each.

Petsmart = Overpriced & Small Feeders. I vote go to a local breeder or order online in bulk :gj:

I switched my BPs to rats a while back. Order them online from Loxahatchee Rodents: http://loxahatcheerodents.com/estore/

Always arrive frozen, easy to separate, clean, stated size, and their shipping is always reasonable compared to some other sites. They also do mice.

I only have one BP right now so it's not worth the shipping cost to buy online until I get into breeding. I don't know of any mom and pop pet shops around here either. Only Petsmart and Petco.

Petsmart prices are ridiculous. $12 for 2 small f/t rats when I can get 4 livefor the same price at the local petstore? After I thawed a mouse to find it 95% decapitated inside the sealed bag I've been turned off of them completely, but a feeder drought at the local place (they had 10 gram pinks and 100 gram medium rats and NOTHING inbetween) meant I had to resort to them, but never again. They stink so bad and they shouldn't.

I've noticed that when I've bought f/t from Petsmart when I'm in a pinch. Their sizes vary a lot from package to package.
