He's blue!!

Wow this is a big week for me and Norbert. He just had his first f/t, and now his eyes are blue. My first shed!! I'm so excited to see how this goes.

So here's my question. I have him in a rubbermaid and the humidity stays pretty high without me doing anything. It's about 70%. Should I mist to increase the humidity even more? Or put a sponge in one of his hides to make a humid hide? What do you guys think?

I would just use a sponge. Congrats.

Sphagnum moss might be a bit better - sponges are notorious for harboring mold and fungus and can be difficult to clean very well (short of a dangerous bleach infusion). The sphagnum hold moisture awesomely and its highly acidic nature discourages stuff from working on it.

He'll probably shed just fine as is, but it wouldn't hurt to bump it up a wee bit with a sponge or similar. Good luck with the shed!

If it were me, I would just wait for the shed and see how it went. Since his average humidity is that high all the time, he may shed perfectly without any extra intervention on your part at all. He most likely will shed perfectly. If he has a little trouble, then you'll know to add some moss to his hide next time, or something along those lines. At the most a sponge or spritsing the cover of the enclosure once a day should be more than enough to keep it well above 70% all day.Even if you dont he will probably have a good shed at your present humidity, I know Plissken did without me even knowing it, my humidity stays about 65-70, woke up one day and he had given me a perfect shed!

In my experience a 70% humidity has given perfect sheds.

I just mist once a day when the snake goes into shed and I've never had any problems with shedding.

70% is totally straight for shed time. I got a great shed with Amber last time and I barely kept the humidity above 55%.
