Best way to treat a RI?
I noticed one of my males has been breathing a little strange lately. It started when he was going into his shed cycle. He did shed in one full piece and is still eating great. But I believe he may have a minor RI. Once in awhile he will puff up and open his mouth. I also saw a couple bubbles today. I'm worried. What would be the best way to treat him from home? I removed him from my rack with my other snakes and put him in QT. Unfortunately I don't know of any reptile vet where I'm located. But I've heard they can be treated from home. Any suggestions?

Sadly Vet is the only solution I know!

Even if the vet that is closest to you is 1-2 hour drive, keep your car warm and get him there ASAP!

    Dr. Peter H. Nicholson

Dr. Nicholson has a special interest in reptiles...but isn't a "herp vet"

    Dr. Riley Wilson

Dr. Wilson is an exotic vet.

Both of these gentleman are probably your best bet. It's a 45 mile drive, but I would HIGHLY recommend going. I know it's FREEZING in Alaska at this time, but you can always keep the car warm while you transport. Make sure they get a CULTURE before prescribing antibiotics. Also, make sure the antibiotics are injections. Best of luck!
