    Breeding question
I'm starting to breed for fun, and can't wait to start producing morphs. Ive got a male killer bee, 2 female pastels, and 1 fire female so far. I can't wait for a fire bumblebee! My question is that I would like to be able to eventually make an axanthic killer bee. Would my best course be to buy an axanthic female and breed her to my killer bee and then breed a male bumblee het axanthic back to the female? or do I need an axanthic pastel female? Also whats the difference between the different lines axanthic VPI, etc..

    Thanks

If you plan on using the killerbee then yes buying an axanthic female would be a good way to get a male bee het ax to breed back to the female axanthic.

The difference between the different axanthic lines is they aren't compatible.
As far as which line is better, they all have their poor examples and their exceptional examples.

Killerbee axanthic has 2 homozygous genes in it, which is the pastel and axanthic, so each parent at the minimum will need to have one of each those genes. then one needs to have spider. at the minimum your looking at:

    Male:
    Bumblebee, Het Axanthic (VPI)
    Female:
    Pastel, Het Axanthic (VPI)
    Percent Fraction Traits
    3.125% 1/32 Axanthic (VPI), Killerbee
6.25% 1/16 Killerbee, Het Axanthic (VPI)
    3.125% 1/32 Killerbee
3.125% 1/32 Super Pastel, Axanthic (VPI)
6.25% 1/16 Super Pastel, Het Axanthic (VPI)
    3.125% 1/32 Super Pastel
    6.25% 1/16 Axanthic (VPI), Bumblebee
12.5% 1/8 Bumblebee, Het Axanthic (VPI)
    6.25% 1/16 Bumblebee
    6.25% 1/16 Axanthic (VPI), Pastel
12.5% 1/8 Pastel, Het Axanthic (VPI)
    6.25% 1/16 Pastel
    3.125% 1/32 Spider, Axanthic (VPI)
6.25% 1/16 Spider, Het Axanthic (VPI)
    3.125% 1/32 Spider
    3.125% 1/32 Axanthic (VPI)
    6.25% 1/16 Het Axanthic (VPI)
    3.125% 1/32 Normal

so as far as the best way to go about it, I still think getting the axanthic and breeding it to your killer bee would be the way to go, see what babies you get and figure out your plans from there. If you say hit on a pastel and a bumbleebee of opposites sexes, you have a chance right there. You may also increase your odds, by breeding a pastel het axanthic or bumblebee het axanthic back to mom, to hopefully get a snake that's genetically farther along.
