    After shed behavior
    Hey, guys!

Just joined the site and I have a quick question. I bought my first ball python 3 weeks ago. She's already successfully eaten 2 meals and just finished her first shed with me. I've been super obsessive about keeping everything perfect for her in her tank. I was having trouble with humidity so I bought a ZooMed reptile fogger and the humidity shot right up to where it needed to be. It stays around 50-55% humidity at all times. I made her a humid hide for when she was in the shedding process and she finally shed her skin yesterday evening. It came off as one solid piece, eye caps and all! Yay for being an obsessive caregiver!

Now, my question is...what is the normal behavior to expect after they've completed their shed? She seemed very excited to be done with it. She started roaming around her cage again and was pretty active. Today, she has been chilling on top of her hide which is directly underneath her heating lamp. I've go a big water dish on the other side of the cage with some plants suction-cupped to the sides of the enclosure. The fogger sprays down over the water dish and near the plants. She climbed up these plants and was just sitting there putting her head underneath the fogger. She seemed to be enjoying it. She generally seems super happy, but I may just be imagining things. :) So I guess I'm just wondering if they do typically seem to be relieved and happier after completing a shed. And just for funsies, here's a picture of my little girl, Lilith.

Can't really offer n e advice as my first Bp just went full blue on me today.. What a sight the color change is crazy hopefully she sheds in one peice for me as I'm a bit obsessive as well..

I would think they would be happy, I look at it as if you had sunburn and the dry itch flaky skin just pealed off in one big peice

You've still had her only a relatively short period of time, so you may just be seeing her usual pattern of behavior. My experience is that in general, snakes will act different while going through a shed cycle, and then return to "normal" behavior afterwards.

She may have been spending the previous couple weeks seeking out humid areas to hide and make sure her new skin grew in well, and now that that's done she's setting about thoroughly exploring and checking out her enclosure.
