    Caresheet vs. Forum Info
I read alot of information about my hobby of reptiles and amphibians all the time. (I'm a union crane operator, so i have some down time on the job site) I'm not super knowledge about the Red Tail Boas..so i come to forums for help..how come most on here say to feed my female BCI every 2 weeks...then i read on a sticky caresheet from this forum from NERD feed my BOA weekly..i read they have a slower metabolism, but i just want to make sure she is not going hungry, but, in the same sense make sure she is not over weight..currently we are feeding her a 200 gram rat every 2 weeks..she currently weights 2757 grams..Thank you all for your time

That sounds about right. I feed my adult male a jumbo rat every two weeks and he is just fine.

7-10 day feeding is recommended for young boas. Adults would be fine on a 2 week schedule. They do have a slower metabolism. I have actually read that some people don't offer adults food until they poo. But I'm not sure about that.?

Does the 10%-15% rule apply to Boas just like Balls..cause I'm feeding just under 10% and it leaves just the slightest bulge in her belly, which is appropriate

no that doesn't really apply to boas, one prey that does not leave a bulge or just a slight one is about right

That's correct. I think the caresheet is geared for baby boas. Most folks tend to get boas in particular as babies. Feeding young ones once a week to every 10 days is appropriate. But adult boas are usually fed once every 2 weeks.

It is more common with BCCs and Dumerils to wait until they poo. Dumerils seem to have even slower metabolisms (ambush preditors that are more sedentary) and BCCs are more sensitive.

No. Boas are not balls and therefore they should not be fed like them. What you are doing sounds just right. The prey should leave a barely noticable lump or even no lumpl With boas, always err on the smaller side.

Seems like you are doing just fine with your girl! Pictures?? :gj:

Judging by her weight only, I'd estimate her to be around 3 years old. My 2 1/2 year old male is 2200gm. :gj:
