    Leo licking up calcium power?
I usually feed Phoenix worms which eliminates the need for dusting, but the pet store was out so I grabbed up some mealworms. Dusted them and he maybe ate three or four, then just began licking up the calcium power from his bowl that had fallen off the worms. I have other Herps, but only one Leo. Never seen any of my beardies or cresties lapping up an calcium powder. Normal? The Phoenix worms I get are the legit ones, so I know there is no nutrition worries as to why he's doing this. Im not going to taste it. But maybe it has a sweet taste? I don't know. Hoping someone here has encountered this and has a solution or theory on it. Thanks guys.

That is normal. Some people will put a dish of powder in the Leo's cage just for that.

Completely normal. I too feed Phoenix worms on occasion and still leave a small bowl of calcium with my leos. They will eat it when the feel they need it. Smart little buggers :)

Most care sheets will actually call for the practice of leaving a small dish of calcium in with your gecko.

    +1

I used to do this myself when I kept and bred leopards.

Sounds like a good idea. I've never heard of it but will try it. Will it even go bad, like spoil? And how large of a dish? I have a few extra meal worm dishes laying around.
