    Newbie needs help with JCP
My son dropped off his adult Carpet Python and cage to me 2 days ago. He had to move out of where he was, so i have the snake for now. He's acting fine but wont eat. It had been 10 day since he ate when my son dropped him off, Now 12 days, I've offered him food several times over the last 2 days F/T large rat, which is what hes been eating without issues. Now the snake is starting to get the faded milky tone to his skin so i'm sure he will be shedding soon. So my question is, Is he refusing to eat due to the combination of the move and the upcoming shed? even though hes still in his own cage (I know new smells, people surroundings etc.), or should i be concerned that there maybe some underlying reason? Oh, He is usually fed every 7-10 days, but where he is at 12 days now of not eating How long untill i should be pulling my hair out due to worry??? Thanks for any help you can offer.:confusd:

This is most likely why he isn't eating. Just keep offering weekly and he will most likely eat after he sheds. Notice I said weekly - offering several times in a row will only stress him more and potentially lead to more refusals. Good luck and kudos for taking care of this guy.

I agree with annarose, sounds like he is off feed because of his imminent shed. Just keep the humidity a it higher than usual, and he should shed out and be looking for food. Also, give this a good read http://www.acreptiles.com/main/index...=81&Itemid=140

Also, why don't you give us a few pics of your setup. It is most likely the shed that is causing the fast, but it could be a husbandry issue as well. Hope this helps!
