New to this, burms in the everglades?

Just saw a show about this today and guys catching burm's in the everglades. I thought it was BS but after some research its true. Wow so there apparently between 18-100k burms in the glades. Thats crazy.

I wonder how many breeders actually go to the glades and look for clutches of eggs and then try and sell them after they hatch. Captive caught can easily be turned into Captive bred, and for FREE, U just got to find them. Wow

This has been going on for a while, I don't think there would be any breeders picking up glades burms to sell. They are now illegal to transport across state lines, I believe they are not able to be sold in the state of Florida and a clutch of normal burms aren't exactly worth it from a buisness point of view. Such a shame we lost these snakes when they were just coming out with some interesting morphs.

No one really has any clue as to how many are actually out there, but given that almost 1600 people could only come up with 68 snakes makes me think there's a lot less than what people say, even given their hiding abilities.

This is a fudged number. There's no way theres even close to 100K burms in florida.

Lol I love how they say 18-100k.......I mean they might as well have said there's between five and fivebigillionteen. They have no clue and just threw out an inflated number of there to freak people out.

Numbers are disputed, especially after some harsh winter conditions may have impacted their population a few years ago.

Some 1,500 people were licensed to hunt burms in Florida for an experimental season this year with monetary incentives for most and largest snakes destroyed. Less than 70 snakes were turned in.

Absolutely! I didn't just make up those numbers!

I'm in Florida. We has burms climbin in yo windows, snatchin up yo babies, eatin 6ft gators like tater tots. They be cray.

That pained me to type...
Anywho, yea, you're not going to see any breeders snapping up clutches. To own a burm down here you have to have a permit, and it is illegal to cross state lines with one, even if it is your pet.

68 burms captured. 65 killed. 3 males got released back into the glades with tracking devices (including the largest caught, which I believe was around 13-14ft) to hopefully attract/lead them to breeding size females so they can capture and destroy them.
