question about feeding/shedding
Hello everyone! I received my ball python almost 7 weeks ago from my cousin who had to travel a lot for his job. I know that he had just shed before I got him.
He is about a year old and has never missed a meal and is usually quite active at night.
I'm pretty sure my ball is in shed right now. He's not active at night, has blue eyes, and has been in his humid hide the entire night and this morning. I just read the sticky about the shedding process and I think the writer recommended that you shouldn't feed your ball python when his eyes are opaque. I'm a little worried about feeding/not feeding him because he is due to eat tomorrow but he doesn't seem to be his usual self. Is it bad to skip a meal and wait until he has shed? Should I feed him right after he sheds? Should I try to feed him right now anyway?
Also, he hasn't pooped in two weeks and I'm kinda worried. He pretty much averaged a poop per week until now.
I tend to over-worry about my snake! :O Thanks for your help.
question about feeding/shedding
I always offer on schedule wether an animal is in shed or not. If it eats great, if not no big deal.
Re: question about feeding/shedding
Our BP will sometimes eat during. but most often she does not. I now have a better vibe
on her behavior about feeding her or not. If she's not out or really active, then I dont bother
I've tried enough now, to know she's not going to take it, and just wait out the shed.
Also, same as others said on the poop- he'll probably go after the shed.
Enjoy your new friend-
