    Weight gain question
Hey all, a week and a half ago my six year olds ball python 'Mario' weighed in at 416 gr. he ate about two days before that weigh in. We fed him a 50 gr small frozen thawed rat this past Thursday. We weighed him today and he was 476 gr. He gained the exact weight of the rat. He has had a urate since we brought him home (two weeks this Wednesday) but no poops. Is this all normal. He seems well adjusted handles great and eats great. Ate live his first feeding and f/t his second. Just wanted to check with some who no more than I do.
    thanks

Are you sure he's 6 YEARS old? a 450g ball python is the size of a baby! I've got a 6 month old who weights about 550g. Can we get a picture of him? that's the best way to determine if they are the right weight.

Ball pythons will poop when they need to. Some poop every week, some every 4 weeks and some only when they shed. He'll poop when he needs to, don't worry about that.

    I think it's their 6 year old's (child's) BP :) that's what I read...

They poop less when they're little. Its butt will look like a sausage when it's almost time. If its butt looks like that for too long you should worry. My little ones usually poo ever 3 or 4 feedings, so it should be fine.

Ah. Okay. Going back and reading it that sounds more likely. I was going to be worried for a minute!

Lol, sorry for the confusion the snake is a baby! He belongs to my six year old son! Although daddy helps, which I don't mind. So I won't worry:)

Here is a pic from last week.

I think he looks healthy. This is the first snake we have owned and my son is in love. We had to go away for the weekend. My son drew a picture of 'Mario' in his enclosure so he could remember him and made us have a friend come over everyday to check and make sure his temps were ok! Friday driving to visit family my son sat and stared at the picture for three hours. I know ghosts aren't the most desired morph but we all think Mario is really cool looking.
    Thanks for all the help

I think he's gorgeous! I'm glad your son is so into him! That's better than most kids.

Also...is your avatar picture from BHB? Random question, I know.
