    Rack questions
Hi I have been looking at racks and building them I am in the UK and from what I have read the ambient room temp has to be good our house is old and not great for heating mainly use coal fire so can be cool or bloody cold so does this rule out racks full stop or is there a way around this problem ?

It might. What is the average temp of your home?

I keep my home cold on purpose so I have a designated room that I heat with a oil filled heater for my snakes. You could do this as well if you have a room you can control.

    Hi,

Build a closed sided and backed rack rather than an open one.

Think about adding heating to the cool end as well.

So just another question is it that the heat matting is above and below that the temps are maintained as I have a mat in my viv with a ceramic heater to keep temps right how can the mat get temps so good is it that they are In a smaller enclosure so less power/heat is needed? and what happens about light humidity in racks?

I just use mats in my racks and they seem to hold the heat fine - though they are in my living room which helps.

Light is just the ambient light in the room through the sides of the tubs and you control the humidity mostly by drilling holes in the tubs to allow ventilation. :)
