Any Triathletes or Distance Runners out there?
Just curious if there are any members here that are endurance athletes. I have been making a very sad attempt at training, mainly due to injury. I was going to run my first marathon last year but I hurt my right ankle (actually my anterior tibial tendon) during training and was out for a good 4 months. As I have been getting back into it I have yet again injured my leg, this time my left shin, hoping its just some type of shin splint, ive been icing since thursday night. This time the injury was due to a ruck run, thank you Army, not making it easy for me to train. But anyway, just curious if there are any others here training for anything. My ultimate goals are to complete the Alpine Marathon Davos and possibly the 78k Ultramarathon Davos, to complete a 100mile Ultramarathon and to complete a full Iron man.

My wife and I have done 3 marathons, both of us did a 50k run. She proceeded to do a 50-miler while I was held back by injury.
We have backed off a bit and have done mostly 1/2 marathons over the last year.

I have helped a few friends with 100-mile ultras and ironman races.
    Good luck with your goals.
I have listened to hundred of hours of reptile related radio along those miles.

The 100-miler will be some really fun pain.
Might I recommend reading- Running Through the Wall- which has essays by ultra runners. Born to Run is a good read if you haven't read that one also.

Thanks for the input on the books, I have been looking into a few to pickup. I am currently really frustrated because of injury. I cannot wait to recover and get back at it. My issue is being stubborn and not listening to my body or my doctors, but this time if Im actually going to run any races I need to rest, when I just want to be out running.

I don't do any running, but saw that you live in Germany and wanted to comment. I lived over there 6 years and really loved the Volksmarches. We did several of them each year. I really wish America had something similar.

Best of luck with your recovery.

When I was a kid my mother ran all kinds of triathlons and entered my sister and I in children's races. It was so much fun! My focus has been less on racing and more into yoga and my education since then, but I always find myself daydreaming about doing more of them someday
