Isis had been on shredded aspen bedding...green aspen bedding that I got on clearance. I feed her in her enclosure, and her
food is always dry so the aspen doesn't really stick to her food. I usually clear out a little area anyways just to be sure, but
naturally, she still got a chunk in her mouth while she was eating...not a little piece, but a good size chunk stuck in the
roof of her mouth. Luckily she is so chill that I just rubbed her "lips" with tweezers and she opened right up so I could pick it
out...but after that I figure why even mess with the headache. I switched her to paper towels, and I gotta say it looks much
"cleaner" in her tub now. It'll definitely be easier to find it when she poo's...Lol :)

In other good news, she just took a prekilled 21g mouse from my fingers like she hadn't eaten in years, so I am going to get
a bag of F/T and say good bye to paying for live feeders... :D

If you don't pick up some tongs, you might be saying goodbye to unbloodied fingers, too! ;) Pretty girl!

Lol, ya I was just dangling it by the tail, and she immediately lunged for it...so glad she is an excellent feeder! When she got here she was at 95 grams, and IMO a little skinny for her length (pointy backbone sticking out), but since she eats so darn good, she is already putting on weight and looking nice and healthy :D

I use newspaper for my girl's tub, which is very similar to paper towel and I like it a lot. It's easy to replace, super easy to see when they go to the bathroom, and you never have to worry about your snake accidentally picking up substrate while eating, good switch IMO :)

I also use Newspaper. I used to use Aspen (I do still use it for the one snake I have in a tank - but she's a corn snake) but I got tired of paying so much for it. So now I use my grandparent's old newspapers. It's free and I can change it daily if I need to. For shed cycles, I bought a HUGE bag of cypress mulch (cost me like $4 form Lowes) and I use that until they shed. Then I clean the tubs and they go back on newspaper.

I'm quite fond of the newspaper as well. It's free or at least muuuch cheaper and seems more cleanly to me, with the added benefit of no substrate ingestion.

Ya, we don't get newspaper's here lol...I could probably talk my grand parents into saving their old ones though :)

You can also go to a newspaper printer business and get some old editions from there. Or, you can go to a convenient store. They always have some free papers you can take.

Most grocery stores leave a big stack of their weekly ads in front of their store, I usually grab a big stack of these erry couple weeks while grocery shoppin! Nothin better than free snake bedding :)
