Found lice on my feeder rats
I found a great supplier in my area that is usually very hard to find. They take great care of their snakes and lizards and do showcasings at the Reptile Expo here in florida. I decided that I'd like to buy their feeder rats so I can get my Ball and Corn hooked on rats. When I checked them, I noticed some small brown dots, then when I checked closely while in the freezer, I noticed a ton of lice-like parasites accumulated all over the rodents. They resembled exactly like lice. I just have 2 questions to ask of you guys: Am I going to have lice and will my snakes be able to consume these parasite ridden rats? Just thinking about it makes me feel itchy..

I'm not 100% sure but most parasites are specie specific ... Gota think in the wild who knows what thr food has on them .... Only concern would be I the feeders have parasites what kind of enviornment are they kept in and are they healthy feeders ... Ill double check my books at work tomorrow and get back to u

Rat lice is only on rats. Not even on other rodents, just rats.
Its safe to feed and you won't get lice.
