    Egg tub idea
The hubby came up with an idea for an egg tub modification, and I can't find fault with it, so I'm going to submit it to this wise and experienced community for critique.

The set up as planned: Standard sterilite 6qt tubs with hatch-rite + light grate

The modification: Hot glue a small length of pvc pipe or dowel rod to the bottom of the tub to elevate one end ~10 degrees, adjust substrate/grate to re-level parallel to to ground, proceed as normal. His idea is that having an angle to the lid will allow drips to run to the side and back down to the substrate rather than dropping straight down onto an egg, but adjusting the substrate to compensate will still keep the eggs on a level platform.

Any thoughts? I'm new to breeding so I'm hesitant to mess with a set-up (the non-modified tubs) that's known to work for others, but I don't want to tell him no without reason. Thanks!

Seems like he likes making it complicated when it can be very simple, will it work? Yes. Is it necessary? NO

I have been using this method for YEARS and I place the light diffuser over the vermiculite and it has never sunk in, and the way prepare my medium never resulted in excessive condensation leading to condensation dripping on my eggs.

I am a keep it simple type of person ;)

:D nailed it. He LOVES to tinker, I just don't want to shoot him down on this when he's so finally so excited and involved with the snakes, but "if it ain't broke..."
