    Mites
Hi. I have a small collection of 6 ball pythons and noticed most of them have been soaking a lot lately. Sure enough, 4 of them have mites. I am only noticing very small numbers of mites, maybe 10-15 in the water bowl after a soak. I was just wondering if this is anything to freak out about or if it will be easily manageable. I think I caught them early enough. I ordered P-A-M and it should be here in about a week. What should I do until then? Thanks

Clean frequently and make sure they are on paper towels or newspaper.

    Should I be worried?

I wouldn't freak out, but mites multiply fast, and a week is a long time.

Until you get the pam (and once you have it too) soak your BP's twice a day in warm water (water temp in the mid 80's) with a drop of dawn dish soap. This will help to get the mites off of the snakes, and make them more comfortable.

I would not suggest freaking out but also get rid of them asap. They are a vector for diseases no need to freak but also it is not something to not worry at all about.

PAM is the best stuff out there for mites - follow the instructions to a T. I hope you ordered enough of it because you should do mult. Treatments on the rack (heat tape area is a hot spot), tubs and around the infected area. If the racks are near/on carpet, vacuum. As Schneider said use paper towels for sure, try not to cross contaminate any other areas or snakes. With proper protocol you can rid this no problem!

Thanks a lot. Sorry for the delayed response. This is just my first issue with mites
