Weight and age? Another newbie question...
The guy we got Iggy from had no background on him whatsoever just that he's changed hands a few times in his young life (he's NOT going anywhere now!) We weighed everybody Sunday night in the hopes of perhaps getting an approximate age on Ig. He weighs in at a nice 411g and is 31 inches long right now...so we figure maybe 9 months-ish. Sound about right or are we way off base here?

It's too variable to really say. I've seen a year old snake that's 150g and have had a year old snake reach 1500g. It all depends on the frequency and size of feedings.

That wouldn't be a bad guess...but like MrLand stated, it's hard to tell. Depends on how often he was being fed, and if he has always been a good eater...

Solarsoldier just made a post with a pic of sister het pieds: http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...37-Mine-vs-his

Assuming they eat equal amounts and haven't had any food strikes(which is stated), I'd say that's proof you can't judge age by length/weight. This is one specific example, but it shows some proof of growth rate is individual.

Thanks! He's still a bit of a mystery to us. Not hungry yet - still adjusting I would imagine. Hopefully soon he'll want to eat and we can get a better idea of what his personality is like. He's mostly hands off for right now...a couple of quick pics but that's about it.
