Please help with heat tape size
I am having a 41qt rack built very soon for my large females and I have gotten lots of contradictory recommendations on the size of heat tape to use. One person will tell me the 12" is what I want and the 4" is too small, another will say the exact opposite. So, in 41qt tubs, what would you guys recommend?

    Thanks, guys!

Edit: Tubs will slide out longways, not sideways so the narrow part will be on the tape, not the entire length of the tub. *Thanks, Mike!

Just as an addtional piece of info: the tubs will slide in and out longways not sideways, correct?

    I would use 12' flex.
More practical for the 41 qt tubs. And the big snakes will appreciate the larger hot spot.

I built all of my adult racks with the 11" 20Watt Heat tape, I used the 4" for my 32qt and 16qt racks. I'm glad I went with the larger tape for the 41qts, the big girls do seem to appreciate the larger hot spot. . .

If you go with 12" flexwatt i wouldnt run a hotspot of 90 degrees. Id run a slightly cooler hot spot since itll be like 1/3 of the tub. Just my 2 cents.

All my racks have a 4 inch strip of flex watt running across, nothing more.

If you can hang in there a few more weeks, THGHeat.com will have a new size available, 6" heat tape. Great for CB-70 size tubs. It will be available through dealers like Reptile Basics.

It is on the way now.

Here's my rack. 41 qt tubs, and 11" flexwatt. We put the flexwatt on the left, don't think you can see. But temps run good, and its a nice toasty spot the snake fits on.http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/01/30/numezure.jpg

Does that sag at all or have any of the tubs stick? (Just curious).
