    AP Size Cage
Hey everyone! I'm just doing some research on cage sizes for a bp I'm going to get in August and I'm really into the Animal Plastics cages! What size cage would accommodate the size requirements of a adult female ball python? What size for a male ball python? If you own own one do you have any pros or cons? I'm just debating between their cages since I want to see them and the racks. Thanks everyone!!!! :D

I would (and do) get T8's for BP's. Male or female, it doesn't make a big difference. You can use the optional divider and house 2 BP's, or without the divider for 1 BP (with adequate hides/cover)

    Pros:

    • easy to heat
    • holds in humidity better than anything else
    • very strong
    • lots of options

    Cons:

    • cost
    • size

Keep in mind that a rack will require you to heat an entire room to 75-80 degrees year round. With an AP cage all you have to do is heat the cage itself which is much easier and used less power.

Here is a thread I wrote on AP cages: http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...With-Pictures!

Lol I was just reading that thread and bookmarked it on my computer 5 min ago! :D Thanks for all the information! With the divider in the cage can the snakes live their until their adults?

Yes, Each half of a divided T8 has 4 square feet of floor space. That is actually slightly larger than the tubs that must people keep adult BP's in (IRIS CB-70 tubs/ARS 70 series tubs)

Woah that rocks!! I think I'm dead set on getting one now lol :) Is it better to have the swinging doors or sliding ones? or is it just personal preference? Thanks for your help and advice! :D

The sliding glass doors are better. They are larger so you can see in better and are easily removable for better access.

The swing doors are made from acrylic which will warp, scratch, and yellow over time.
