    New to BP's got a few ?'s
    Hi Everyone;

    I'm just brand new to BP's although my daughter is more knowledgeable than I am. (Mama's still a bit skittish around them) We have a normal male and he does not want to eat for us. He's losing weight - even my vet was a little worried when we took him for a check up because of a scratch he had on his belly. She gave us a few different tricks to try and he still doesn't want to eat. I'm getting worried that he's going to fade away to nothing and he's only 5 months old. He should be eating hoppers (f/t) like our female Pastel, but no luck. Any ideas/ tips/ tricks, please????

    Speaking of Ixchel, our Pastel I have a quick ? about her. I'll post a pic when she's a little more settled in since she just arrived last night along with our Bumblebee male, Ignecia. With all my looking around I have yet to see a Pastel that looks similar in colour to her. She's really orangey in colour. Her background is unknown so I don't know what's in her genetic make up if that would be why she's more orange than other Pastel's I've seen or maybe she just needs to settle in a bit more and her colour will be more like what I've seen. Ideas?

    And my last ?, and this might sound silly but can BP's react to a certain voice? I noticed last night when we getting our newbies set up that every time I spoke Ixchel would stop what she was doing and turn her head in my direction. We thought it was kind of neat and my daughter said to me "That's your snake, she's listening to you" I just kind of brushed it off, but now I'm curious, lol

    Thanks!

    Hi,

    Have a read of the caresheet - it has a few tips and tricks mentioned in it.

    You mentioned he should be eating frozen thawed like your pastel... Have you not tried live? They don't all eat frozen thawed...

    I was talking to a friend earlier and she suggested that maybe he doesn't like the mice we have, so we're going to try live next feeding since my daughter had him out today and we don't want him to associate every time he's out with feeding time.

    :oops: Little bugger...gave us no clue that he was going to shed. No color change, no cloudy eyes, nada. I'm so embarrassed now...guess that's what being a newbie is all about :)
