    New tank mod/new possible product
I'm considering modding my 10 gal and my 20 gal long terrariums into lucylid cages and ditching my heat lamps. I found some new UTHs on amazon.com(links included) and wondered if anyone had used or heard anything about these regulated UTHs. I'm thinking of the 8X12 underneath and to one side for my 10 gal and possibly the 8X18 to go under and in the middle of my center-divided 20 gal long. It looks like having just a UTH is enough to maintain heat with a well made lucylid. Anyone else done this mod? And have you still needed supplemental heating? thanks.

    Hi,

It's just a dimmer switch - which means unless your house ambient temps are really stable it will still require you to be constantly monitoring and adjusting it manually.

Heat is the most important part of keeping a reptile and I can't really get excited about a mild ( and probably more expensive ) rehash of a low end idea, sorry.

Nothing beats a thermostat to be honest for peace of mind and animal health.
