    new cage aggression!
So I finally moved my boa into his new cage on Sunday. Up until now he was in a 40 breeder. He is about 6 foot long and obviously outgrew that cage along time ago. ( I rescued him this last summer and thats the cage he came with) anyways I built a few 4 foot cagesfor my ball pythons but he is in one all by himself till I get his 7 foot cage built. since he has been in the new cage he has become Very aggressive. In fact he even bit my wife sunday night. He is normally very docile. The temps in his cage are 92 deg basking, 85 hot side ambient, 79 cool side ambient. He ate an xl rat last friday so he is not hungry. Is he just scared or some other reason for his aggression, striking?

He may just still be settling in, obviously this Is a much larger space than he's ever had. In his mind he may feel insecure after going from being cramped up to being able to explore and move more. I wouldn't call it aggression yet, let him settle in a bit more. It's probably just defensive. Imagine being picked up, dropped in a strange place and then something reaching for you.

What exactly was the situation when he bit? She was reaching in to get him, he was already out, was it feed day, did she maybe smell like rats?? Do you move him to feed, and he maybe thought that's what was going on? Just curious how it happened, might help us to decide what kind of a bite it was. And remember, they can just have bad days.

How did he bite? Maybe a scare tactic? Draw blood? Strike but not latch on?
Maybe coincidence, but, when i completed 8'x4'x8' new enclosure for my 12ft albino burmese, she lit me up 2 days after i moved her in..she drew alot of blood, but, i am certain that it all had to do with a new bigger world that they are living in..scare tactics..i say just be easy with him the first week or two then he will be back to normal..good luck

It does sound like a fear bite to me as well. It might be worth giving him a week or ten days to settle in triple check all the temps ambient inclusive and time to become accustom to new surroundings.
