Now where did I put that rat?
I have a Bee that is probably 4 months old and he has an awful time finding the business end of the rat to start to swallow it.....when he catches it on the nose just right he does fine but if he don't the he never eats it....I have to pick the rat back up with the tongs and he strikes and constricts again and I have to repeat this until he catches it just right...anyone else experience this?

Not exactly. Have you tried leaving it in there overnite? Im convinced my lesser is a blond bc EVERY feeding day she has something new that prevents her from eating a rat like a normal snake. She'll strike and miss, she'll ignore it, she'll drag it into her water dish, she'll try to eat it from the butt first, or the middle first lol etc. etc... Shes special lol. So now i just leave it in the tub and its always gone by morning! Lol

Sort of. Instead of striking and constricting a second time he slowly opens his mouth and bites the head. So he is at least smart enough to know he already "killed" it. I can't tell if he is really too confused to find the head on his own or if he is just lazy and knows I will stick it right in front of him.

That seems to be the magic trick for a lot of "special" eaters :)

I have a male butter that used to do the exact same thing. If he didnt strike in the exact spot it seemed like he was incapable of eating. Luckily he outgrew that and is doing very well.
