Pet store treating snakes like poo

Ok so there is this newish pet store in Utah that I decided to go check out. All of the snakes look like they haven't been cared for in months. They have really old sheds in them TONS of fecal matter sprawled around the cage. Some didn't have hides when I went it and were soaking in water from it being to hot( I think ). Any suggestions on what I should do. They have many other pets that are not kept in the proper cages or cares for properly. Anyone I should call? Or is there anything I can do?

I would start by talking to the pet store directly. There is a chance that the owner doesn't know that the animals aren't being cared for properly. If that doesn't work then you will ned to escalate it. Personally I don't know who would be best to talk to. I'm sure that its different in Utah than it would be here in Florida.

I tried the person in the store claimed he was in charge of everything and told me he knew what he was doing

I haven't seen one this bad. The pet store I usually go to takes excellent care of all their animals. Even petsmart and petco look like they care more than this store

Call the local animal control and get advice and start from there (??) I dunno.....

I posted on a group on Facebook. And a guy happens to run a store in the same lot so I emailed him all the things I noticed in there and he is going to talk to the owner and land lord tomorrow. (:

just out of curiosity, what store is it, since i live in the same city as you there is a chance that if more than one of us starts bugging the owner he will make an effort to change.

Call your local animal control office and tell them that these animals are being kept in unsafe conditions. If there's poo and shed skin lying around then the people selling them are too afraid of the snakes to perform regular tank maintenance. That equates to animal neglect and they need to be seized by animal control or least written a warning and checked up on by the officers in the future.

Never buy a snake from a pet store like petco. They take horrible care of their snakes. I went in their and a corn snake was just dead in its cage. They dont even.have the proper temps in the cage. And they obviously dont eat cuz their.stressed out from being exposed, wrong temps, and not eating. Buy ur snakes from a breeder, even if hes a small one because breeders take care of there anakes
