Feeding help...

My 11 month old bp has stopped eating, absolutely nothing has changed in his liking environment or temps... ive read that it isn't normal for young bps to go off feed so I'm kind of concerned... He has always eatin once a week f/t and is now on "small rats" but 3 weeks ago stopped taking them, should I try live even tho he has never had live or should I just continue once a week with the f/t until he takes it? He is visibly losing size and I don't know what to do!!??

What weight is he?

The best way to keep an eye on them during a fast is to see if they lose much weight. They normally don't unless there is a problem.

Have you checked the temps haven't dropped thanks to the weather?

Have you tried an F/T mouse?

Is he due for a shed?

No I don't have a scale, and his temps have stayed exactly the same since his last successful feed... I haven't tried a mouse because he has been eating this size for the past 4 months with out any problems. And yes I'm sure he is close to shedding now, no visible signs yet but it's about that time for him but I'm not sure that's the reason because this is his 3rd week of refusal

A food scale will do - as long as it let you keep track of any changes it will work fine.

Just to check where are you measuring the temps and what with?

Was there anything you noticed as unusual with the last time he ate?

I'm using the yellow digital probe thermometers, one above the uth and one on the cool side on the inside of the cage, warm side is 89 cool side is 75. And no his last feed was normal and had a normal bowel movement about a week after

Hmm,

I'd bump those temps up a bit.

I normally go for 92f inside the hot end hide and 82f inside the cool end.

Instead of giving him a live small rat and risking an accident, or giving him a live mouse and possibly throwing him off rats, I'd offer him a live rat weanling. He hasn't eaten in awhile so dropping the size a bit might actually encourage him to eat and the weanling is going to move enough to get his attention but less likely to go after him.... If you do try this method make sure you supervise the entire time and remove the rat if the snake hasn't shown interest in 10–15 minutes.

Well... It's mid-breeding season right now, and it's at it's coldest! Males reach sexual maturity at around 12 months of age. If it were me I wouldn't be concerned for about a good month and a half with not eating, becaus ewhen it come to BPs at this point in time.... Tis the season for not eating, Fa La La La... LOL :) Don't stress just yet, make sure all temps/ humidity is perfect.
