    ranco thermostat help
I got my ranco thermostat with the room heater option today and I'm a little confused. I set the temp to 80. I turned the space heater on, it reached the temp, heater turned off however the temp keeps falling and the heater never kicks back on. Am I doing something wrong?

    note:
    ranco set to Fahrenheit
temp set to 80 in H1 mode
    differential to 1

Is your heater the type that automatically turns on when you plug it in, or do you have to plug it in and then switch it on? If the latter, then you may need a different room heater. I had a similar situation to you, in that my first room heater was a digital one. When I decided the room temperature was fluctuating too much, I thought about getting a Ranco to control the heater and realized that every time it de-powered the heater when the room temp rose above setpoint, it would then stay off until I manually switched it back on. I took the old heater back and traded it in on a new one that stays switched on when you de-power it, so that an external thermostat would control it. (Admittedly I haven't gotten around to getting an external thermostat yet - still toying with the idea of buying a PID temp controller and relay to basically make my own Ranco - so I don't know if you might be having a Ranco programming problem instead.)

    Hope this helps...
