Got a light tent and studio lights for my birthday!

So, my boyfriend is amazing and got me a set with a light tent and studio lights for my birthday!

This is the set he got me: CowboyStudio Table Top Photography Studio Lighting Square Tent Kit - 20" Tent, 2 Light Kits

One (1) 20" photo tent in a case
Two (2) UL listed 30 Watt 5000K Daylight Balance Compact Fluorescent Photo Light Bulbs
Two (2) Premium Quality Mini Light Stands
Two (2) High Quality Aluminum Reflectors with sockets
Four (4) Color Backgrounds (include Black, White, Red, Deep Blue)

My dad is also giving me his Nikon D40 so now I have pretty much everything I need to take awesome pics of my collection!

What are some tips to taking great pics of your animals? What are your preferred settings and lenses to use? I took a photography class in high school but it hase been years and I don't remember very much...

I have been slowly updating all my pics in my tent on cleaning days, etc....

I actually had a space under my desk that I just lined with material and used a staplegun to fasten the material to the underside of the desk. I cut a board the size of the floor and covered it with material... stapled it as tight as I could to keep the wrinkles out.

Just took a few of my 1.0 Clown that I'll post up later.

Very nice! I may invest in a nice one, one of these days. I have the one I made, and it works. But pita to set up, and could use better lights.

Do it! It makes such a huge difference. Next weekend I will be getting my day's Nikon D40 so I will probably spam all of you guys with pictures lol

Here is my cheapie set-up.... $12 for 18" flourescent light under my desk, $18 for black fabric and my $129 Canon A2300. Flash is turned off with the light under the desk. It is only a 8w light.

First three pics just now.....Clown did not really want to play, the the LemonBlast just shed, and the Black Pastel 100% Het Pied just didn't care!!
