Does anyone else use the "whack" method of killing rats for their BPs? I do, and if it is done properly, there is no suffering on the rat's part. I really did not want to get into euthanizing rats, but the pups I have bred are growing WAY faster than I ever knew rats could, so I had to start whacking/freezing them.

I do it. Grab em by the tail, swing them down hard, and they die. Gerbils are trickier, their skin comes off the bones.

    I've got some Q's, can i get some A's?
I put them in a bag and show them the wonderful world of deceleration trauma, wall/floor poisoning, also known as sudden-stopitis! Skin comes off Gerbils? Brutal!
No it's not fun, but it is quick.

Yeah...always something you have to watch out for when you have pet gerbils. You can't hold them by the tails or your liable to pull the skin off if they try very hard to get away. Swinging by the tail is definitely not going to work well with gerbils!

It sounds bad but I put them in a pillow case and break thier necks with my hands.

Well, call me a sadist but i dont really concern myself about the rat, its going to die anyway. My concern is with my ball python not getting attacked. But i still try to make it as quick for the rat as possible.

My wife and I are planning on building a gas chamber to start killing them. Its easier then breaking thier necks, no blood coming out of thier nose to clean up and you can kill more then one at a time.
We breed them so at times we have to many so we kill and freeze.
