Juvenile Normal, Magnus-- first full shed, plus eyecaps!!
So Magnus' sheds have always been rough. His first shed with me, he shed all in pieces. I hadn't quite gotten down a good system for humidity yet, so it was sort of a rough process for both him and me. The second and third shed he did fine, but his faceplates came off before everything else and made parts of it rip in strange places.

But today when I came home, I had a gorgeous, complete tube of old scales waiting for me!!

It's a bit dirty, because it looks like he rolled around in his substrate for a while to get it loose enough, but I am so excited!!

Here's the full skin, aligned with a Q-Tip for scale.

Here's a shot of the headpiece (YAYYY!) plus eyecaps! Those are often a problem area for him.

Here he is post-shed, with flash on.

    And without flash.

I am so happy, wanted to share my beautiful boy with all of you!

I am pretty ecstatic, haha. I finally feel like I'm doing him right. As a first-time snake owner, this is my shining moment. And his too, just look at him! He gets a nice rat tomorrow. ;) Thanks for the praise!

Awww, he is adorable! :) Major congrats on getting his humidity setup perfect for that awesome shed. Sounds to me like he has a really great dad. ;) :)

It took a pretty wide learning curve, and of course every setup is different. I can't afford an automatic system yet, so I've been working really hard on doing it manually using an air-compression mister and coconut fiber substrate, plus a misted towel on the top of the enclosure. It's been really effective, hovering somewhere near 60% give or take for hours at a time. This dry northeast winter air is making me pull my hair out with frustration, though. I think he and I are both relieved at the ease of this shed, hopefully with many repeats in the future now that I've found a system that works for us.
