Newbie with some questions! :)
Hi everyone! I'm new to BP.net and snakes in general! :) I'm a young herper and found my passion to be reptiles. At the moment I have a beautiful bearded dragon and that's about it haha! This summer I plan on getting a animal plastics iris rack system (whats your favorite rack system? Pro's and Con's?) because of the great reviews and the ease of keeping snakes in them. I also plan on getting the Herpastat thermostat for it. (Favorite thermostat?) and i'll be getting my first BP at the Daytona National Breeders Expo (and maybe a colubrid is I can convince my mom!):P I just have a few random questions about ball pythons in general
- Is there a difference in behavior between a male and female? I know that the male tends to be smaller than a female
- Pros and Cons of a Ball Python to a colubrid?
- What are your favorite morphs and why? ( my favorite is a nice looking bumblebee :D)
- Do mojaves color fade out as they mature like pastels?
- Favorite reptile breeders?
- Have you gone to the Daytona National Breeders Expo??? I'm so excited!!!
Thanks for all your help!!!! :D:D:D
Re: Newbie with some questions! :)
First of all welcome to the site and the hobby!
- Is there a difference in behavior between a male and female? I know that the male tends to be smaller than a female
No, the only difference is size. Females can get up to roughly 5-6 feet, and males roughly 3-4 feet.
- Pros and Cons of a Ball Python to a colubrid?
Balls have smaller teeth and typically a better attitude ;) I also believe they are easier to keep than most colubrids habitat wise.
- What are your favorite morphs and why? ( my favorite is a nice looking bumblebee :D)
Too many ;) I would like a panda pied some day though!
- Do mojaves color fade out as they mature like pastels?
Nearly every morphs changes with age. Most darken/fade, some lighten/fade. In my experience mojaves lighten and fade.
- Favorite reptile breeders?
That's going to be a hard one for anyone since there are so many breeders and different breeders for every reptile ;)
- Have you gone to the Daytona National Breeders Expo??? I'm so excited!!!
Nope, I'm in Iowa. Shows are a lot of fun, you'll enjoy it!
