    What is this?
    I know its not the best picture, but a friend in Jacksonville Fl found this on the porch (They thought it was a boa), and to me it looks like a colubird, can you try your best oh my mighty gurus to tell me what it is??

    I thought rat or garter, in that order. Does it look like a black rat snake? I've heard they darken as they get older.

    Safe bet it's a rat snake, either Black or Eastern (sometimes they are used as the same snake though improperly)

    I'm reasonably sure this is a young black rat snake. It is a little hard to judge from the picture, so I could be wrong, but Easterns usually have a more distinct pattern. Black rats have pattern while they're young and it'll fade drastically as the snake gets older. Cute little guy! :gj:
