Herpstat 2 setting question
How do I make it so that when I adjust the temperatures the herpstat will gradually increase the temperatures not a max power instead of it using 100 percent power to reach the desired temperature? Thanks.

Why do you want it to do that way?
Because if it is applying max power the flexwatt could get to hot for the ball python?

That is the point of the thermostat. Once the thermostat detects that the flexwatt is getting close to the desired temperature, it will slowly start to cut the power until it levels out at the desired temp. It doesn't get super hot right away, it takes some time for it to warm up. The herpstat is smart, it won't ever heat up too much and then cut the power. It starts out strong, but tapers once it gets close to avoid over heating.

The reason I'm concerned is because it shows 100 percent power until it gets close to my desired temp then runs around 60-70 percent. Then it typically will cut all power to 0 percent for a few seconds when the probe goes over set temp then goes back to 60-70 percent . I just assumed the heat tape got hotter than the set temp when it is being powered at 100 percent to get the probe to read the desired temperature. In other words I view 100 percent as the same as plugging the flexwatt directly into the wall.

It is...until it reaches the desired temperature. No need to worry about this.
